Prevention

From the time it was first founded, the Company has endeavored to address 2 practical needs: the creation of bridges to facilitate contact with our client companies and designing effective intervention models.

In reply to the first need, there are risk prevention experts, as well specialized occupational health doctors and the general training program. The risk prevention experts and occupational health doctors give support to the Company's occupational health committees in preventing environmental and physical risks to workers and employees; and the training program is a key element in creating, maintaining and transmitting the need for a greater awareness and handling of the risks involved right to the farthest corner of the organizational pyramid.

At the same time the Training, Occupational Health and Safety, Occupational Health Medicine and Labor Medicine Divisions were created in charge of designing practical and effective models in keeping with the particular characteristics and needs of Colombian companies and which designed products such as:

The Basic Mandatory Plan

This is a program which gives companies basic training in order for them to implement simple tools to maintain the productive capacity of its employees, in accordance with minimum mandatory regulations.

The Occupational Health-Orientated Company Model

This is a series of epidemic control programs designed to detect and eliminate the risk factors that produce occupational illnesses.

This model has a general focus that is applicable to any risk factor: the psycho-social-occupational health factor, ergonomic risk, lighting, noise levels, etc, backed up with specific advisory services and training material

Occupational Hygiene Laboratory: This is responsible for gauging the different risk factors such as stack emissions, noise levels, particle contamination levels in the work environment, lighting and temperature so as to control and improve the workplace by providing the best possible environmental and working conditions for our affiliated workers/employees.

HR Motivation and Management: This program is designed to improve conditions for an optimum HR performance, handling psychosocial factors such as stress at company level.

Comprehensive Ergonomic Profile of the Workstation: With this product we control risks such as bad postures and straining movements which can cause injury and lost days.

Emergency Program

This is designed to prepare the Company and its workers/employees to react in an adequate fashion to possible disasters and situations that threaten the workforce, so as to minimize their corresponding effects.

General Training Program

This is designed to promote risk prevention models and maintain a high level of awareness of the importance of occupational health and safety, through which SURATEP has already trained more than 540.000 affiliated worker/employees.

This training program is given by a team of technicians, advisors and experts in Occupational Health, and is well-backed up by easy-to- assimilate training material. In this way SURATEP endeavors to provide information, increase worker/Company awareness, and make the worker and Company more accountable by correcting certain patterns of behavior which are considered to be potential risk factors.

Zero Accident Model

This is a model specially designed by SURATEP as a risk prevention tool. It constitutes a dynamic process of improvement, which requires the use of information systems and measures so that the risk factors that cause accidents are systematically controlled.

Surambiente Model

This software allows the Company's environmental aspects to be controlled. Its business activity normally has an indirect or direct impact on the environment and with this model the Company may:
  • Comply with legal regulations and requirements for environmental licenses and permits
  • Adequately dispose of and control industrial waste.
  • Implement programs aimed at recycling industrial input and waste.
  • In general terms, improve environmental conditions
CISTEMA

(Center of Chemical Substance Information To Attend Emergency Situations And Improve Environmental Conditions) This is a service which is principally orientated towards those companies or institutions that in one way or another handle, transport or store chemical substances. It not only provides an opportune response to queries received from companies affiliated to SURATEP, but also from the general public.

CISTEMA's platform is based on international models and the experience of leading companies in the field of chemical products, both at home and abroad. 

Ariadna

It´s a software application, exclusive to SURATEP, which allows the occupational health program to be handled by its affiliated companies, prioritizing the risk factors at hand, updating the list of responsibilities and needs as well as maintaining occupational records and schedules of activities thereby facilitating the handling of information.
